Woodsball

2 - 30 Players

The Woodsball field at Hot Shots boasts a unique playing environment offering players the opportunity to play a number of different style games on the same field. This field is laid out with two forts on either side of the field with scattered bunkers along the sides of the field and a 1970’s Greyhound bus in the middle of the field.

The layout is perfect for games like capture the flag, elimination, protect the president and other games of this nature. The main base on this field is also used as a team headquarters during the scenario games.

The fort on the south side of the field is one of the better protected areas of all the fields at Hot Shots. This 2 story compartmented fort gives protection to players defending the ground level and also easy shooting access for the players on the upper level. Players holding this upper level position can see the entire field of play and can send paint down the field to hold any advance by the opponent up the middle of the field. The upper level is covered with paintball netting allowing defenders to shoot through the netting without worrying about getting hit by the enemy.

Although this field has a vast open space in the middle, the outskirts of the field have great woods cover allowing players to advance on the flanks with decent cover. The west side of the field is thicker woods cover with a path through the woods on the inside and a crawl space through downed trees on the outside. The west side also has another 2 story fort that can be held by either team. This fort is not as large or advanced as the north side fort but it does offer a significant strategic advantage to the team that holds it. This fort is placed on the outside edge of the fields open area giving it coverage of both the west side woods and the center of the field.

The east side of the field has some bunkers that can be used for cover, less tree cover than the opposite side including some open uncovered spaces measuring roughly 25 – 50 feet. These gaps are difficult to move across while under fire, but can create opportunities to eliminate your opponents.

On the north side of the field there is another fort that is considerably less covered than the north side. The north fort is more like a foxhole style defense with sand bags encircling a 2 story tower. The tower has no netting and does not offer a substantial defensive position.

The middle of this field does offer something a little different. The center of the field has a 1970’s Greyhound bus. The windows have been removed and replaced with plywood. Since the bus is in the middle of the field it gives a strategic benefit of enabling the team controlling it. From the bus you can lay cover fire up the middle of the field or hold back an advance on both the east and west sides of the field.

For an elimination game with more than 15 people you should expect full field game to take upward of 30 minutes. If you play elimination with 30 it could go on all day. It is highly suggested that you play capture the flag when you have more than 20 people on the field.

Suggested Games :
